Our favorite beaches

around Tulia Guesthouse in Tenerife

In Tenerife, we are fortunate to have access to many incredible beaches that are part of the identity of this island so rich in landscape and culture. In this article, we've listed our favorite beaches near Tulia Guesthouse - our apartments and rooms are actually named after some of these beaches! Happy reading :)

Playa Bollullo

The best of all worlds · 20mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse

Bollullo is the beach that has it all: the wild side with its surrounding cliffs, the practical side with its fantastic Chiringuito for eating and drinking with your feet in the sand, the safe side with lifeguards on the spot every day, and the comfortable side with easy access by car and on foot. We like to go there at the end of the day, or on Sundays to relax.

Playa El Socorro

To catch the best waves · 10mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse

Playa El Socorro is just a 10-minute drive from Tulia (or you can walk there if you don't mind the climb back!). This beach is one of the most beautiful in the area, with its volcanic sand and wonderful views of the ocean and banana plantations. It's also one of the best surf spots in the region!

Playa El Ancon

The most peaceful · 20mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse

Playa El Ancon is located near Bollullo in the protected area of El Rincón; the walk down to its black volcanic sand is an incredible experience, passing through banana plantations, cliffs and the vineyards of the famous Malvasia wine. The end reward is a wonderfully refreshing dip in the ocean. It’s one of our favorite spots to catch sunset in the Summer months.

Playa Los Patos

Magnificence and rest · 20mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse

This large beach is an invitation to solitude, silence and contemplation. Quite large and isolated, you can often find yourself alone in the world, at the foot of the Teide and facing the power of the ocean.

Playa Almáciga

Surfing and wild waters · 1h20 by car from Tulia Guesthouse

For those who love wild waters and surfing, Almáciga is idyllic. This is one of the three beaches in Taganana, a charming village that has kept its traditions practically intact. Almáciga is one of our favorite beaches after hiking in Anaga, a place that seems timeless where we can relax and soak up the cheerful local atmosphere.

Playa Benijo

The end of the world · 1h30 by car from Tulia Guesthouse

Benijo feels like the end of the world; this volcanic black sand beach is one of the most beautiful in Tenerife, offering a spectacular setting at any time of day. The road leading to it is also incredible, making it impossible not to stop dozens of times before reaching the beach!

La Caleta

Sun & warm ocean · 1h15 by car from Tulia Guesthouse

La Caleta is a fisherman village located in the south of Tenerife, near one of our favorite beaches: Playa Diego Hernandez. This beach has golden sand and turquoise waters. One of the least known spots in Tenerife, it’s a great place for you to relax in a wild environment. It can’t be reached by car, but the walk to go there is filled with cactuses and beautiful vistas!

Last but not least

Our top 3 favorite local beaches in Tenerife

Let's conclude this list of Tenerife's most beautiful beaches with the three we go to most often, whether in everyday life or with our guests:

3. Playa de Castro (10mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse)
This beach is located in a protected environment, ideal for strolling or running. The beach is a pleasant place, especially in the mornings, depending on the tides, and we always enjoy the Barraquito on the way back to the café at the mirador!

2. Playa Jardin (15mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse)

Playa Jardin is actually three urban beaches in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz: Playa Castillo, Playa Chica and Playa Maria Jiménez. These three beaches are superbly pleasant and accessible, if you want to enjoy the ocean between two hikes or with children. Volleyball matches are often organized at Playa Maria Jiménez, as are yoga and dance classes in the surrounding area.

1. Punta del Hidalgo (45mn by car from Tulia Guesthouse)

At the top of our list of favorite Tenerife beaches is Punta del Hidalgo, which has been our favorite ever since we discovered it three years ago. Punta del Hildalgo is a small town on the edge of Anaga Park, surrounded by mountains and with a breathtaking view of El Teide, where you can swim in the various natural pools or relax on small volcanic beaches. An ideal spot after a hike in Anaga, where you can also enjoy fresh fish caught directly by local fishermen.

We hope you enjoyed reading and (re)discovering these little gems of Tenerife!
